Bansko is located in South-western Bulgaria in the foothills of one of the most beautiful Bulgarian mountains – Pirin . The resort is one of the favorite tourist destinations for visitors from Bulgaria and abroad. Offering a variety of opportunities for recreation and entertainment, Bansko is attractive in every season. For the purposes of the summer tourism within the National Park Pirin were developed 13 major and 17 minor mountain route. Rock climbing is permitted in six places. In winter, Bansko becomes one of the favourite ski resorts for skiers and snowboarders. Average temperature on January ranged around -1.9 degrees in the city and in the mountains between 0 and -16 degrees. Snow depth reaches 2 meters, that define the length of the ski season - from December to April - May.
Amazing natural formations are “Koncheto”, circus “Banski Suhodol” with one of the few polar caps in Bulgaria, caves “Banderitsa” and “Kazana” - one of the most deeepest in the country, natural reserve “Ulen”, crystal lakes - more than 100 in number.

Ski tourism Bansko, also called the pearl of Bulgarian tourism is the newest and most rapidly developing Bulgarian winter resort. Famous resort town offers a unique combination of excellent conditions for winter sports, pure Bulgarian traditions and customs and rich cultural and historical heritage. Bansko offers many hotels, cozy and small metels and taverns with traditional style and all this combined with delightful nature of Pirin mountain. Bansko is a winter resort with the most modern equipment ski and snowboard slopes. 65 km professionally prepared and reliably safeguarded tracks are available to skiers and snowboarders. The two main ski areas of Bansko – “Chalin Valog” (1100 - 1600 m) and “Shiligarnika” (1700 - 2500 m) are located just above the city and there are regular buses and lift installations too. There is a separate area for sports and tourism with tracks for the ski slalom and giant slalom in the “Shiligarnika” area. In the area “Banderishka polqna”, over Bansko, 5 km runway for ski cross is available.
